STARKE, Fla. -- More than 30 animals have been seized from an animal shelter in Bradford County.
Animals including, dogs, cats, horses and a pig were suffering at the Home Sweet Home Animal Shelter in Starke. Investigators said the owners didn't have enough money to take proper care of the animals.
Some of the animals have medical issues. The sheriff's office shut the shelter down and is trying to relocate the animals and get them veterinary treatment.
Unfortunately some of them may be too sick, and will have to be put down. The sheriff's office is working with nonprofit groups to help out and is trying to get some of the animals adopted.
Police say they aren't looking to pursue any charges for the people who ran the shelter. An officer said the heart is there to help the animals, they just ran out of the means to do so.
